Today our sixth graders explored the Giant Mars Map for the first time and used some of the earliest photos of Mars, by space craft, to hunt for different features and then identified the locations by latitude and longitude.
This was a great introductory to space science for my sixth grade and really helped to provide good hands on experience in seeing how maps are made from images and locating land features by coordinates.
We had so many good questions and comments today, and I always see something new on the map each time we open it up.
Thank you!
